Making the leap at Big Rock Falls
Horseback riding with Mountain Equestrian Trails (MET)

Barton Creek Outpost is located near San Ignacio in the foothills of the Mountain Pine Ridge and is the perfect base
for your adventures in Western Belize. We are surrounded by lush tropical gardens featuring an incredible variety of
tropical flowers and fruits. Maya ruins, excavated and not, are abundant in the area and the bird watching is
amazing. The surrounding hills are littered with caves including Barton Creek Cave, a mile long canoe trip deep
inside what the Maya believed to be the “Gateway to the Underworld”. There are free jungle hikes available as well
as a leisurely stroll through the neighboring Mennonite Community. The nearby Mountain Pine Ridge is home to
some of the most amazing waterfalls and swimming holes you’ll ever see and enjoying them is a great way to spend a
hot Belizean day. The Outpost works closely with the best local tour operators including
Mountain Equestrian Trails
(MET) recognized in the famous book “1000 Places To See Before You Die”. Your stay at Barton Creek Outpost can
be a relaxing visit filled with hammock time and good books or the adventure of a lifetime.
