Barton Creek Outpost is the perfect base for your backpacking adventures in Belize. We offer several free hikes on the property as well as a stroll through the neighboring Mennonite community. Maya ruins abound in the Cayo District and the nearby Mountain Pine Ridge is home to some of the most amazing waterfalls and swimming holes you’ll ever see, a great way to spend a hot Belizean day. We are surrounded by lush tropical jungle and the hills are littered with caves including Barton Creek Cave, a mile long canoe trip deep inside what the Maya believed to be the “Gateway to the Underworld”. The Outpost works closely with the best local tour operators including Mountain Equestrian Trails (MET) recognized in the famous book “1000 Places To See Before You Die”. Because we primarily cater to backpacking campers we specialize in helping you get on inexpensive, off the beaten track, tours. If you are coming to the San Ignacio area contact us about area tours, we can often get them cheaper than you can. Your stay at Barton Creek Outpost can be a relaxing visit filled with hammock time and good books or the adventure of a lifetime. Want to go golf? Oh yeah, we do that too! |
